My Coffeehouse Theorem

So today I had some errands to run including stopping over at the bank, which I did before work. By the time I was done with everything I had about and hour and a half before work started and thought since Im half way there it makes no sense to go back home; so i decided to chill at a Starbucks which was walking distance from work. As I sat there enjoying my coffee and reading my book it got me thinking .... Now I know (and many will agree) that sitting in a coffee place going about your day especially at a Starbucks is a very Khaleeji (People from the Gulf) to do, seriously what is it that draws us to these coffeehouses?!

What is it about coffeehouses that relaxes me so much? Not only relax but brings out the creative and productive streak in me. Throughout my university years (both undergrad and post grad) I have spent many a mornings, afternoons and evenings in various coffeehouses working on

assignments and stuff. In fact Ive probably written about 90% of my M.A dissertation in these places across Manchester!

I think its just the overall atmosphere these places have managed to create for the customers. Be it Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Second Cup etc. they all have it. Those comfy sofas, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee beans, people from all walks of life just going about doing their own things, yet simultaneously enjoying a cup of good coffee with you. How could you resist that. The whole experience is even better if you find yourself the best seat in the house; by the window so you can just stare out and get lost in thoughts forever. Oh and how can I forget the best part ..... as you soak in all that is happening around you, you get to do that listening to some jazz and blues music softly being played in the background. 

I have had some of the best memories and moments in life at coffeehouses with old friends and made new ones. I have sat for hours and had random discussions and debates with professors over things we learned in class. I have written a play for my theater class. I have even sat there coming up with an elaborate plan to throw a surprise for a friend's birthday .... if given the choice I would relive them all over again!Give me a cup of coffee and a good book to read, I can spend all day there lost in my own little world. So the next time you are bored and have time to kill just chill at a good coffee place and you wont regret it!! :)
